Performance of James MacMillan's opera originally aired on BBC 2. Commissioned by Scottish Opera for the 1996 Edinburgh Festival, revived in 1999. The true story of a doomed love affair between a Spanish girl (Inés) and the crown prince of Portugal (Pedro), whose countries go to war with each other during the 14th century.
